Check your Eligibility

Students must meet all three of the criteria below: 

1. Is a citizen or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance. 
2. Is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in the next academic term at The University of North Alabama.
3. Has a need for academic support, as determined by The University of North Alabama, in order to pursue successfully a postsecondary educational program. Students meeting one or more of the following conditions meet this requirement: 
   1. ACT composite or any sub-score below 21
   2. SAT Verbal or Math score below 460
   3. High school GPA below 2.75
   4. UNA Math placement in MA 100 or 105
   5. UNA English placement in EN 099
   6. Did not complete high school but obtained GED
   7. Currently has failing grades in one or more courses
   8. Returning adult student (beginning college at age 23 or older)
   9. Feels under prepared for college-level coursework.
   10. Needs help in determining career or educational goals
   11. Needs academic support in major/required courses
   12. Is in danger of losing a scholarship due to academic performance

Students must also meet at least one of the following qualifications to be eligible for the TRIO SSS program:

• First-Generation college student (if you lived with both parents/guardian neither parent has a bachelor’s degree; if you lived with only one parent, that parent does not have a bachelor’s degree.)
• Documented Disability (registered with UNA’s Disability Support Services)
• Demonstrate Economic Need (based on household taxable income)
